We have long admired Karen's beautiful herd, which we had the privelege of visiting back in the winter of 1992 .. you seldom see Nubian Herds with the sort of uniformity Karen has bred into her animals, both in type and mammary ... as I told Karen then, the only other herd I could compare to hers was the Cadillac Herd of George and Vivian Proctor, which is behind the magic cross of *++B Brown Sugar's Crown Ambassador to Karen's linebred *++B Ker-A-Tin Acres Royal Majesty herd!
The Kastdemur Herd is correct, elegant and carries udders that are not only beautifully attached but milk. The LA records, milk records and Show Records attest to a thoughtful, consistant breeding program. They have competed in the show ring on both local and National levels for many years, winning many awards and honors over the years including three homebred National Champion Nubians .. GCH Kastdemur's Extatic 3*M LA 91 .. GCH Kastdemur's Crown Finale 2*M LA 90 .. and GCH Kastdemur's Aubree 3*M!!! All three of these does were also awarded Best Udder, with Aubree winning this honor twice!
Karen's animals have also been awarded Reserve National Champion twice .. GCH Kastdemur's Extasy 2*M LA 90 in 1989 and GCH Kastdemur's Aubree 3*M LA 92 in 2002!
The Kastdemur influence on the Nubian Breed does not end there, as the 2002 National Champion GCH Lynnhaven E Paradise 7*M LA 92 was sired by *+B Kastdemur's Crown Explorer - who has followed in the footsteps of his sire *++B Brown Sugar's Crown Ambassador, and granddam GCH Kastdemur's Extasy 2*M LA 90, 1989 Reserve National Champion - and has sired many outstanding GCH daughters with EX LA scores and top milk records! And if you take note of the top placings in the National Show over the years, you will find most every lst place animal in the milking show was sired by a Kastdemur buck - right down to the last two National and Reserve National Champions!!
The consistancy of the Kastdemur Herd reflects for the vision Karen has maintained in her breeding program and the gracious generosity she exhibits in working with other Nubian Breeders to carry our Breed forward to a day when they regularly compete successfully in BDIS classes all around the country.
We feel deeply honored to have been able to add BEST's incredible genetics to our herd, and cannot thank Karen and Krist Senn for entrusting him to us.
We fell in love with his dam GCH Kastdemur's Crown Finale 2*M LA 91 when she was awarded National Champion and BU in 1999. She has been an extremely consistant doe in the show ring and as a brood doe for Karen - being the dam of 2001 National Champion GCH Kastdemur's Aubree 3*M LA 92 - who was also 2002 Reserve National Champion .. GCH Kastdemur's Finesse 3*M LA 90 - lst place Milking Yearling at the 2003 National Show and lst place Two Year Old at the 2004 National Show and Kastdemur's Always & Forever, Reserve Junior Champion at the 2005 National Show!
His sire *+B Kastdemur's At Your Service sired the lst Place 2 year old at the 2003 National Show GCH Lakeshore Farms Ace of Hearts LA 90, who was also awarded Best Udder and a number of other exciting daughters in both the Kastdemur and Lakeshore Farm herds .. and is of course, a son of *++B Kastdemur's Full Service - sire to GCH Finesse LA 90 - and littermate to CH Kastdemur's Next Exit LA 90 - which brings in the additional and very consistant dam line of GCH Kastdemur's Extasy 1*M LA 90, the 1989 Reserve National Champion- while keeping us within that wonderful dam line begun by GCH Kastdemur's EP Ashley 1*M LA 90!
BEST has proven to be a remarkably consistant buck - his daughters are uniformly strong in General Appearance and carry udders that are extremely well attached all the way around. His daughters in the herd have shown at the top of their classes each year - with HEARTSTRINGS earning ResCH 2x, MAJICK Res CH 1x, twins ALLURING and MYSTICAL have both been lst place two year old, and MORRIGAN has been 3x first yearling milker. His daughter AMAZING (now deceased) was lst place milking yearling and ADARA has placed lst Int Kid and Junior Champion 2x.
Sadly, we lost BEST this fall .. he will be deeply missed for both his gentle disposition and for the quality of his daughters. We have kept two sons to continue his genetic influence - one out of MYSTIQUE and one out of JIFFYPOP.
